where does your website rank with Alexa ??

I am a non technical person that has built a website using a tool that promises to get me within the top 6% of most popular sites as ranked by Alexa.
To date, after about 3 months the website is ranked as 374thousandth out of 16.5 million which isn't too bad as it leaves me plenty of scope for improvement.

Does the Alexa ranking mean anything though?

It gives a rough estimate of the popularity of a given site. Its accuracy increases as the ranking improves.
